Hurricane after hurricane followed up by another natural disaster is no news to the people who enjoy living on the coasts. In fact, to some it's just part of the cost of living on the coast and all you can do is prepare for it and ride it out. This is the argument made in this article about Hurricane Florence, whether the communities should leave the area or ride out the storm. All officials and including the Governor have ordered the residents to evacuate but there are few strong members in the community who are deciding to ride it out. They're reasons consist of the natural disasters being part of the cost of living. While others say that this is their forever home and they don't want to leave it. There is even one guy that says he might as well ride out the storm because after the storm people will need his help.
My personal opinion is if people are willing to prepare for a zombie apocalypse and ride out the apocalypse than people should have the decision to stay in their homes to ride out the storm. I personally think the zombie apocalypse is harder to survive than a hurricane. Either way, it all starts with preparation. Just like taking a test, being prepared will lead to better success. The residents who are deciding to stay are well aware of the preparation they need to take in order to survive and they are also aware of the risks. And for those who don't make it through the storm, should not be looked as anything less than "brave". They were prepared, but like always something could go wrong and for these people luck wasn't on their side. For those who will survive, will be aids and hero's for those who need it during the storm and after as they were the ones who decided to stand by their homes, their values, their morals, and not let the world run over them.
My point to take away from this article and post is to stand up for your beliefs and yourself. These residents who decided to stay during Hurricane Florence are doing exactly that. They are taking every precaution needed but they aren't backing down to the government or to the world. They're aware of the risks but believe they'll make it through it or at least die trying. Of course, these beliefs aren't shared by everyone. Some might have different path to destiny than riding out a hurricane but it isn't to say that people deserve nothing less than our respect for standing up for their beliefs and themselves. So to conclude, I say to those who are braving the storm that you have my highest respect and I wish you the best of luck as face off against Hurricane Florence.
